Paint or replace?
Painting your cabinets is a cost-effective alternative to complete replacements. If the boxes are solid and the layout already works for you, new color can change the whole kitchen without a demolition crew, a new order and weeks of waiting on delivery.
It is also a quick transformation. Nothing has to be built, shipped and installed, so the kitchen is back to normal sooner. If your doors are warped or split, or you want to move the layout, replacing may make more sense, and we will tell you so at the estimate.

Degrease, sand, prime, then color
Our process runs in four steps, in this order. First, preparation: the cabinets are thoroughly cleaned to remove grease, dirt and other residue. Kitchen cabinets collect cooking grease for years, and paint put over grease will peel. Before anything else, the room is masked off with paper and tape so it stays clean.
Second, sanding, for the best paint adherence. Third, priming, so the color shows its true color. Fourth, painting, using specialized brushes or sprayers. Multiple coats might be applied, because two thin coats wear better than one thick one.
Skip any step and the cabinets tell on you in a year, with chipped edges around the handles and tacky doors. That is why the order never changes.
Chapter 03
A finish that survives the kitchen
Cabinets get hands, steam, splashes and cleaning spray every day. A proper finish protects them from moisture, scratches and everyday wear and tear, so the kitchen still looks finished after the first year of real cooking.
You also choose the look. We can do a matte finish, a glossy sheen, or anything in between. One kitchen in our gallery has white cabinets around a teal painted island, and another pairs gray cabinets with a black island under lantern pendants.

Cabinetry and door painting go together. The same steps work on bathroom vanities, built-ins and interior doors, and painting them all at once is how a house ends up looking like one decision instead of five.
