Then comes the loosening. Professional-grade solvents or steamers soak through the paper and its adhesive, and the stripping begins, ensuring minimal damage to the underlying wall. Pulling dry paper off by force is how walls get torn, so that step is not rushed.
Once the paper is gone, the wall shows what it needs. Once the wallpaper has been carefully removed, the drywall may reveal tears, adhesive residue, or uneven surfaces. We patch holes, smooth rough spots and, where the wall calls for it, apply a skim coat, a thin layer of joint compound over the surface, for a uniform texture.
